Safety Officer Assistant Role

Overview:

The CERN & Society Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Assistant Department Safety Officer. This position is part of our commitment to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess risks associated with EP activities in various areas, implementing necessary control measures to prevent accidents.
  • Perform regular safety inspections across different installations, coordinating specialized technical inspections with domain experts.
  • Support activity supervisors in creating and maintaining essential safety documentation, including operational and maintenance procedures.
  • Develop and maintain safety files on the CERN database (EDMS) for different installations.
  • Participate in safety-related meetings, collaborating with other safety officers to address and improve safety standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of health and safety principles and associated methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package.
  • Fluent in English; ability to work in French would be an advantage.
  • Professional background in Engineering or Physics (or a related field), with either a Master's degree and 2-6 years of post-graduation professional experience, or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • No prior experience as a CERN fellow or graduate contract holder.
