This Position reports to: Engineering Manager Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to successful project results in technology, software, product, and/or solution development, as well as associated Intellectual Property (IP). Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development for specific product-related issues and maintenance. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions. The work model for the role is: onsite/hybrid This role is contributing to the R&D Material Development Team in Uster, Switzerland. Main stakeholders are PM, PjM, Quality and Operations. You will be mainly accountable for: - Maintaining recognized expertise in polymer material development and material compounding by integrating the latest developments in technologies, tools, and methodologies into your work. - Finding new ways of solving problems by following your ideas, creating hypotheses, and defining ways to validate them. - The development and formulation of new polymers, operating the twin-screw compounder and assisting in production trials. - Understanding and initiating IP generation in your area of specialization and participating in the project IP strategy development. Qualifications for the role - You enjoy working with internal and external Stakeholders like Suppliers, Universities, Global ABB Material Competence Center as well as ABB Research and Technology Centers and the Railway market - Ability to demonstrate your advanced skills with 5 years of experience in polymer formulation and compounding - Possess an enhanced knowledge of extrusion and injection molding process - You are innovative and curious around new materials and collaboration - MSc Degree in Chemistry in organic Chemistry or Polymers - You are at ease communicating in German and English More about us R&D Material Development at ABB PMA is responsible for the development of new polymer materials designed for specific market and product requirements. The focus lies in the development for new polymers for conduits used for cable protection.
