Professorship in Deep Learning The University of Basel invites applications for a Professorship in Deep Learning to join the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (DMI). This position is a key part of the University’s AI initiative, aiming to bolster its leadership in AI and Deep Learning, enhance the capabilities of our Center for Data Analytics, and support interdisciplinary research across the university. Responsibilities • Strengthen the research portfolio of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. • Foster interdisciplinary research collaborations across various departments and affiliated institutions, thereby supporting University of Basel’s contributions to solving complex global challenges through AI. Qualifications - Outstanding research record in deep learning, especially in areas such as modeling and architecture development, domain adaptation & continuous learning, agentic AI, uncertainty estimation, scalability and efficiency, personalized learning, and individual knowledge acquisition. - Strong record of interdisciplinary work, for example in medicine or life sciences, addressing key AI issues such as reproducibility, safety, trustworthiness, and robustness. - Excellent commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentorship. - Potential to shape the future of AI through both research and educational practices.
