**In more details, you will**:

- Applies and interprets scientific theories, concepts, techniques and regulatory requirements (CAP/CLIA, NYS) in clinical studies and accepts leadership role in developing scientific approaches.
- Contributes to long-term planning and technical policies of the department.
- Performs evaluation and regular monitoring of clinical assays to ensure effective scientific performance.
- Act as principal investigator in companion diagnostics studies active in the department.
- Provides technical/scientific consultation to scientific, operational staff on technical issues as well as to departments outside the lab (i.e., Project Management).
- Performs complex troubleshooting and assists in leading initiatives to solve challenging scientific problems with assays or instrumentation.
- Responds to unscheduled deadlines, client needs and crises without neglecting other duties.
- May provide technical training and guidance for operational and junior scientific staff.
- Assists in managing scientific vendor relationships to troubleshoot issues and improve capabilities.
- Participates in client visits as well as presentations to clients and professional groups.
- Regularly reads literature related to scientific area of expertise to remain current in knowledge.
- Attend and present at meetings, conferences, symposia, and seminars to promote CLS’s capabilities within dedicated scientific area.

**What we’re looking for**:
Staff Scientists are the most successful at Labcorp with:

- 3-4 years post-doctoral or industry experience within scientific area of expertise. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for education requirements above.
- Highly skilled in conducting research, data interpretation, and writing reports.
- Effective communication skills with technical staff, business development staff, peers and clients.
- Attention to detail and interpretation of scientific data.
- Demonstrated problem prevention, detection and resolution.
- Intermediate to advanced level in French and English
