- 6 months**Responsibilities**:

- Under the supervision of the Legal Officer, the intern will: - Assist in handling cases before the Management Evaluation Unit and UN Dispute Tribunal (UNDT);
- Search for precedents, gather relevant documentation; analyze the jurisprudence of the UNDT and the United Nations Appeals Tribunal (UNAT);
- Perform research on a broad range of legal and policy questions related to human resources and the Administrative Law;
- Assist in drafting routine correspondence;
- Perform other duties as assigned. Competences COMMUNICATION: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively. Listens to the others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately. Asks questions to clarify and exhibits interest in having a two-way communication. TEAMWORK: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals. PLANNING AND ORGANIZING: Identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required. Allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work. - Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and, - Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is desirable.
