Human Resources Assistant

This position is located in the OHCHR Human Resources Management Section, Talent Management and Career Support and Staff Development and Learning Unit. The Human Resources Assistant will report to the Heads of Unit and to the Chief, Human Resources.
**Responsibilities**:
Within delegated authority, the Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
Recruitment and placement
- Assists in the filling of posts for all categories, including supporting Talent Management related workforce planning and creation of workforce statistics.
- Assists in organizing and coordinating talent management and career support related needs assessments.
- Oversees the maintenance of vacancy announcement files and tracking status of vacancy announcements.
- Advises staff on visa matters.
Staff development and career support training
- Assists in the organization and conducts of training courses and workshops.
- Provides logistics and administrative support to trainers.
- Participates in the preparation of the annual and biennial budgetary exercise for training, monitor the budget on a regular basis and produce monthly budgetary reports
- Processes administrative requests and actions in relation to implementation of all learning activities (including the following: contracts for trainers, travel authorizations for training participants and trainers, payments and fees, and requests for procurement action, as well as effecting actions in Umoja)
Classification
- Assists in reviewing and processing requests for classification.
General
- Conducts exit interviews for separating staff.
- Undertakes research on a range of HR related issues and assists in the preparation of notes/reports.
- Provides general office support services; processes, drafts, edits, proofreads and finalizes for signature/approval a variety of correspondence and other communications; performs budget preparation, input monitoring and implementation, etc. and sets up and maintains files/records (electronic and paper); schedules appointments/meetings, monitors deadlines, etc.
- Prepares written response to queries concerning HR related matters.
- Trains and provides supervision to new and lower-level staff in the unit.
- Performs other duties as required.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management, administrative services, staff development, training or related area are required.
Experience with talent management best practices, including needs assessments is desirable.
Experience in supporting online training workshops is desirable.
Mastery of the MS office suite is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
