Your 'day to day'
With PMI’s journey towards a smoke-free future and a consumer-centric organization, the company faces new opportunities and risks. To safeguard the company’s business objectives, ensure its delivery against strategic opportunities, and safeguard the company against emerging uncertainties, a highly professional and industry-leading risk management and internal controls practice is required. The Global Internal Controls function within PMI maintains close business partnerships with global functions and regional/market management, acting as an advisor assisting management with their responsibility to design, implement and maintain a robust internal controls framework and to stay in sync with internal policies & procedures, through advisory and control localization activities.
As Director Internal Controls Planning & Sustainability, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating:
- The strategic planning of PMI’s Global Internal Controls function and the implementation of its ambitious transformational activities with the aim to mature, enhance and optimize the company’s internal controls practices and to establish an industry leading function
- the definition and implementation of an Internal Controls over Sustainability Reporting (ICSR) program, leveraging experience in establishing a SOX program, with ongoing partnership with PMI’s ESG function
This new position is a development position, with broader accountabilities to be expected within a year, that will enable you to rapidly grow your career at PMI.
More specifically, you will initially
- Assist the Global Head of Internal Controls in the definition and implementation of the function’s strategic planning
- Develop and implement a lean, fit-for-purpose Internal Controls over Sustainability Reporting program for PMI
- Maintain close business partnerships with ESG management and their partners, ensuring a process is in place to identify, assess, monitor, and recommend mitigating responses to key business/project risks within that scope
- Promote an efficient and effective internal controls culture in the organization by regularly engaging with internal customers to continuously drive the adequacy of the internal controls framework
- Engage with senior partners across the company by preparing and communicating easy-to-understand yet impactful process/project advisory and internal controls related insights
- Actively manage and contribute to employees’ engagement and wellbeing
Who we're looking for
- University degree (MSc) level education (e.g. Economics, Informatics, etc.)
- Optional ‘post university’ professional certification / education - examples: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Executive Master Internal/Operational Auditor (EMIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Governance Risk Compliance Professional (GRCP) Certification, etc.
- Around 12 years of experience in (Enterprise) Risk Management, Internal Controls, GRC, Audit, Accounting, Finance or a combination of the six.
- Relevant experience in:
1. ‘Big Four’ and/or other public accounting / audit / consulting
2. Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMGC) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C)
3. Digitalization and transformation projects
4. Multi-year international / global assignments
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to present with impact and clarity
- Curiosity to look for opportunities to simplify and enhance existing processes
- Genuine empathy towards colleagues and leading by example
- Collaboration with others beyond the team to deliver value
- Proficient written and verbal English business professional language skills
