**Salary**:CHF 105,878 per annum. 37.5 hours work/week. 20 days annual leave, 14 days public holiday. 50% employer contribution to health insurance (Lamal), accident insurance and to a pension fund.

**About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)**

The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high-quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.

The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.

**About the Mission**

The Australian Permanent Missions to the United Nations and the World Trade Organization in Geneva pursue Australia’s interests in the United Nations and World Trade Organization through international diplomacy. The Australian Consulate-General in Geneva provides services to Australian citizens in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

**About the position**

The Human Resources Manager is a newly created role. In charge of day-to-day HR, this is a hands-on role needing Human Resources technical experience and professional qualifications.

You will be responsible for providing, professional and effective Human Resources management for the Australian Permanent Mission and Consulate-General in Geneva and the Australian Embassy in Bern, Switzerland. Despite being a relatively small organisation there are complexities related to the conditions of service.

The position reports to the Consul-General who is the Head of Operations and works in close consultation with the London based Regional Services Delivery Hub.

**The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to**:

- Oversee the end-to-end employee lifecycle, working in close consultation with the regional HR team to ensure delivery of core HR processes including recruitment, on-boarding/off-boarding, contract management, performance management and HR policy enquiries.
- Advise on and ensure compliance with Swiss employment law, social insurances, welfare and taxation for staff.
- Provide advice and assistance to management on complex and sensitive HR matters in the context of local employment law.
- Manage business relationships with HR outsourced and external services and contracts including supplier selection.
- Undertake salary calculations and entitlements processing for staff based in Geneva and Bern.
- Oversee and administer operations and good governance of the pension fund
- Manage staff attendance and leave in accordance with employment terms and conditions and relevant labour laws
- Oversee the delivery of the Mission internship program
- Oversee diplomatic staff protocol processes
- Oversee arrangements related to VIP visits to Switzerland, including logistics and other related arrangements.
- Supervise and manage a small team and provide backup support during leave and absences.

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Relevant professional qualification or equivalent level experience in Human Resources Management
- Proven relevant HR experience including payroll management in the context of the Swiss regulatory environment
- Strong numerical skills and high level of accuracy
- Language skills: Fluent written and spoken English and French
- Highly organised, flexible, and adaptable
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong ability in using HR and related IT systems with a proficiency in Microsoft Excel
