Genevant Sciences is a technology-focused nucleic acid delivery company with world-class platforms, a robust lipid nanoparticle (LNP) patent portfolio, and decades of experience and expertise in nucleic acid drug delivery and development. We leverage our world-class delivery systems, in collaboration with leading pharma and biotech companies, to deliver innovative new medicines. Our principal operating company is in Basel, Switzerland. In addition, we have substantial laboratories and offices in Vancouver, British Columbia, as well as an office in Cambridge, MA (USA).

**The Role**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Formulate and oversee the execution of Genevant's IP strategy on a worldwide basis
- Coordinate, liaise with scientific staff and manage outside counsel in patent preparation, prosecution, defense and enforcement matters
- Establish relationships with key scientific personnel to help foster creation of intellectual property
- Develop and implement internal procedures necessary to streamline the intellectual property procurement process
- Educate and support R&D and business personnel in identifying and protecting IP and inform the generation of data to support new IP
- Conduct IP due diligence and otherwise assist with IP-aspects of business development activities, potentially including drafting/negotiating, or advising on, material transfer and similar agreements with an IP emphasis
- Review technical manuscripts, posters, and other materials intended for presentation or publication and ensure IP protection
- Stay abreast of competitive landscape in Genevant's technology and therapeutic areas of interest
- Handle a wide range of IP-related responsibilities as assigned by Genevant's Chief Legal Officer

**Qualifications**
- 5-8 years of relevant law firm or in-house experience, or IP portfolio management experience, in the biopharma or life science space.
- A defended Ph.D. in life sciences a plus.
- Significant prior experience in most of the following areas is desirable: patent portfolio management; IP due diligence; patent/IP licensing and other transactional work; IP assessments (including FTO and patentability)
- Familiarity with advanced patent search tools and databases
- Excellent communications skills, strong analytical skills, and ability to work effectively with teams in fast-paced dynamic environments.
- Attention to detail, impeccable work ethic, ability to multitask, and proven track record of consistently delivering high quality work.
- The position will be based in Basel, Switzerland, with modest travel anticipated.
- Need to interact with colleagues in Pacific time zone (9-hour time difference) may require worktime flexibility.
