Optotune is a strongly growing and internationally active optics company based in Dietikon, Switzerland. We develop, manufacture and market the latest generation of adaptive optical elements for industrial and consumer markets.

Working within our materials development team, you develop exciting new products by integrating advanced technologies. In the team, you bring the next generation of innovative optical products from idea to production.

Tasks
- Build and lead a high performance interdisciplinary team within the area of materials engineering, and close cooperation with our Chemists, material scientists and technicians,
- Investigate, develop, and test new materials and material combinations which enhance our product performance in technical as well as economic aspects, to successfully accelerate access in new and larger markets
- Select the best possible materials from different technologies (particular polymer technology, MEMS technology, thin film, metals, ceramics etc), suitable for high volume manufacturing processes according to product needs and specifications
- You are a strong communicator, and your clear way of expressing yourself and winning personality convinces customers, suppliers and colleagues equally
- Design and carry out feasibility material studies including reliability testing in collaboration with Product and Process Engineering
- Drive continuous knowledge accumulation and improvement in usability and accessibility
- Act as an owner of material database and related infrastructure
- Proactively collaborate in multidisciplinary project teams, and manage stakeholders to strive for alignment, business perspective and high performance

**Requirements**:

- Around 5 years of experience in leadership and materials development preferably in high volume manufacturing environment
- MSc degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or equivalent (chemistry or mechanical engineer with additional education in materials field...)
- A true leader who can motivate and inspire a team
- Broad material expertise in polymers, metals, ceramics, MEMS, lab-on-chip and surface activation technologies
- Familiar with FMEA, Gage R&R, DOE, SPC and other statistical modeling
- Knowledge of Python and related programming languages is a plus
- Self-motivated, proactive, pragmatic, and eager to grow.
- Open-minded for challenging ideas in dynamic environments with changing priorities
- Strong planner and executer
- Quick thinker, creative, persistent & empathic
- Proficiency in English and German desired
