Data Scientist Intern

**About the role**

Are you passionate about technology and would love to join our highly skilled global team? With this 4-6-months internship, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from various countries across different locations (Armonk NY, Zurich, Bratislava, Bangalore, Singapore, Beijing and Hong Kong) who contribute to developing analytics services and solutions in close collaboration with internal business experts and external clients. The internship can be started immediately (the latest start date being March 1st 2023).

Responsibilities & Key Tasks:

- Support in developing impactful and exciting data science products by contributing to the end-to-end delivery, including data engineering & visualisation, machine learning modelling and model interpretation/monitoring
- Develop toolboxes and scalable solutions that can be re-used across projects
- Contribute actively to the team activities by joining knowledge sharing sessions, joining the team events, support team efforts, hackathons etc.

**About the team**

The Advanced Analytics Centre of Expertise (AA CoE) is part of the Group Data Services. We implement Swiss Re's Technology Strategy and support its business functions in generating insights and creating data driven products & solutions, be it with our internal business partners or directly with our external insurance and corporate clients.

**About you**

Technical Requirements:

- Bachelor or freshly graduated from a Master degree in a relevant technical field: e.g. mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, physics.
- Good programming skills in Python, PySpark is a plus.
- Experience and knowledge in programming best practices and coding styles.
- Good knowledge in statistical modelling and/or machine learning
- Knowledge in software and data engineering is welcomed (e.g. code versioning, distributed computing,).
- Knowledge on insurance/actuarial topics is welcomed as well

Soft skills:

- Open and curious, eager to learn about new technologies and Machine Learning
- Eager to collaborate in a team setting
- Good communication skills, ability to present ideas and explain a model in non-technical terms
- Fluent in English, an additional language is an advantage
