**Organizational Context**:
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 192-member National Societies. The overall aim of the IFRC is “to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by National Societies with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.” The IFRC works to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people before, during and after disasters, health emergencies and other crises.

IFRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Movement), together with its member National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The work of the IFRC is guided by the following fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.

IFRC is led by its Secretary General, and has its Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Headquarters are organized into three main Divisions: (i) National Society Development and Operations Coordination; (ii) Global Relations, Humanitarian Diplomacy and Digitalization; and (iii) Management Policy, Strategy and Corporate Services.

IFRC has five regional offices in Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. IFRC also has country cluster delegation and country delegations throughout the world. Together, the Geneva Headquarters and the field structure (regional, cluster and country) comprise the IFRC Secretariat.

**Job Purpose**:
The Migration and Displacement intern will support the Migration and Displacement team in its role to support the IFRC Network to implement its global strategic commitments on migration and displacement. S/he will have a particular focus on supporting the migration and displacement lead with key activities related to advocacy, communications, and technical guidance in the field of migration and displacement.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Attend external migration and displacement meetings on behalf of the IFRC and share outcomes and analysis.
- Support IFRC engagement in external policy and diplomacy fora, including coordination of IFRC delegations.
- Support with the development of speaking points and key messages for IFRC leadership and communications
team.
- Develop the regular IFRC global migration and displacement newsletter for an external policy, political and humanitarian partner audience.
- Develop guidance documents, presentations, policy briefs, and other information products for an internal and external audience.
- Coordinate with IFRC technical teams to ensure information sharing and follow up of ongoing projects.
- Support with the coordination of internal Movement working groups, including the Global Migration Task Force and Movement Reference Group on Internal Displacement.
- Update the migration and displacement data tool on a regular basis.
- Support regular internal Movement meetings, including with the Movement Reference Group on Internal Displacement, including sharing minutes and key documents.
- Perform other tasks as required.

**Education**:
**Required**:

- Enrolment in, or completion of an advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in international law, human rights, international development, political science, or related field.

**Experience**:
**Required**:

- Work or volunteer experience in a human rights or humanitarian organisation would be desirable

**Knowledge, Skills and Languages**:
**Required**:

- Very strong writing and communication skills
- Proven good judgment and ability to work with complete integrity and confidentiality
- Ability to work within a multi-cultural, multilingual, multidisciplinary environment
- Fluently spoken and written English

**Preferrable**:

- Knowledge about migration and displacement, including asylum, refugee law, internal displacement and protection would be an advantage
- Experience in document layout and webpage design would be a plus
- Good command of spoken and written French
- Good command of another IFRC official language (Spanish or Arabic)
