- BACKGROUND

IUCN’s vision is a just world that values and conserves nature. To achieve this, the Union brings together over 1,400 Member organisations, around 16,000 expert Commission members and a Secretariat of about 1,000 staff.

The Member Engagement Manager is responsible for the strategic engagement of IUCN’s Member organisations in order to maximize the benefits of membership for both the Members and IUCN.

IUCN is offering an 18-month temporary position to cover for the Senior Membership Engagement Manager while she is temporarily assigned as Member Assembly Manager for the IUCN World Conservation Congress.- As a team member of the Membership and Commissions Support Unit (MCSU) and reporting to the MCSU Director, the main responsibilities for the Membership Engagement Manager are:

- Member Engagement:
- To implement dynamic and systematic engagement with Members that increases Member satisfaction and Member retention. Member engagement activities deliver the IUCN Member benefits of Inform, Influence and Implement (Member Benefits brochure) and include a Member newsletter and magazine, Member webinars, Member consultations, Member events and networking, and mobilizing Members around an IUCN position.
- To measure, monitor and evaluate the success of the above activities.
- To implement a global onboarding program for all new Members.
- To work with the Digital Community Manger to use the online community platform, IUCN Engage, to achieve a critical mass of IUCN Members contributing to and benefiting from the platform.
- To carry out membership engagement activities for Director General initiatives (e.g. Contributions for Nature platform, Power of the Union initiative)

Member Recruitment:
- To develop and implement campaigns to attract new IUCN Members across all membership categories (including States, governmental agencies, subnational governments, non-governmental organisations, and indigenous peoples’ organisations) in cooperation with the MCSU team and regional Membership Focal Points. Activities include: developing marketing materials and activities; coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating campaigns.

Member Communications:
- To manage the communications for IUCN Members, including content production.
- To develop (global) membership and constituency promotional materials such as brochures, fact sheets, concept papers, posters, displays. This includes liaising with external service providers (graphic designers, printers etc).
- To prepare communication on the announcement of new State Members for the IUCN website and Portal.
- To produce high quality communications and knowledge products in a range of formats including reports, presentations, publications, brochures, policy briefs, web stories, press releases, short films, podcasts, etc.
- To implement member engagement aspects related to the work of IUCN Council (e.g. the communications related to a Member vote, or an update of decisions made at a Council meeting)
- To ensure effective dissemination of Programme and capacity building opportunities to Members.

Member Retention:
- To enhance listening to Members through implementing annual satisfaction surveys and KPIs in order to identify strategies to increase retention.

National and Regional Committees:
- To act as Secretariat focal point for Global Group and Working Group for National and Regional Committees, liaising, providing information and assistance to Membership focal points with their interactions with NRCs

Other:
- To provide support and strategic advice to Director of Membership and Commission Support Unit for membership-related issues.
- To provide support and guidance to MCSU colleagues and Regional Membership Focal Points as needed on global membership-related issues.
- Ensure follow up when necessary during absences of colleagues in the membership team.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

The above job description contains the main duties and responsibilities for this position. However, staff members are expected to show flexibility in their approach to work and be willing to undertake other tasks that are reasonably allocated to them but which are not part of their regular job description. Where any task becomes a regular part of an employee's responsibilities, the job description will be changed in consultation with the employee and the Human Resources Management Group.- REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- At least 7 years work experience in communications and/or stakeholder relations with increasing level
