The internship is in the Transport Economics and Facilitation Section of the Sustainable Transport Division, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe based in Geneva. The intern will report to the Economic Affairs Officer of the Transport Economics and Facilitation section.

**Responsibilities**:
The intern is expected to contribute to the work of the Sustainable Transport Division as follows:
a) Supports the work of the Working Party on Transport Trends and Economics (WP.5) and its subsidiary bodies. Such support includes but is not limited to assisting with the organization of the sessions of the working party and its bodies; preparing, reviewing, and editing economic, technical, and legal documents; preparing the draft reports of the sessions and reviewing and analysing documentation and data submitted by Governments and international organizations.
b) Works on aspects relating to transport corridor operationalization including through providing substantive support to the development of a multi-stakeholder coordination mechanism with a special focus on the Trans-Caspian and Almaty-Istanbul corridors.
c) Provides substantive support to the WP.5 Secretary in managing the ongoing pilot phases of the International Transport Infrastructure Observatory (ITIO) and Sustainable Inland Transport Connectivity Indicators (SITCIN) workflows.
d) Assists in the preparation of publications under the responsibility of the transport economics and facilitation section.
e) Carries out other tasks as required in the section, including desk research, meeting support, and processing of Government data.

Education

To qualify for the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
For this internship, studies in transport economics or planning, international relations, law or equivalent are required;
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Russian or French is desirable.
