Why we are Recruiting
The Innovators Communities are an integral part of the World Economic Forum and the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The purpose of the community is to bring fresh thinking and innovative solutions to the Forum’s platforms and initiatives while building a partnership pipeline of prospective industry leaders. The Innovator Communities are comprised of three sub-communities:
- _ Technology Pioneers_ target early-stage start-ups (typically seed and A series),
- _ Global Innovators_ target growth stage start-ups (B-series plus) up until Unicorn valuation, and
- _ Unicorns_ target start-ups with a valuation of more than 1 billion USD.
The position will be based in the Forum’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and involve regular travel.
Reporting Lines & Interactions
The role reports to the Head of Innovator Communities and operate across multiple teams and geographies in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment. Establishing trusted relationships externally and across the institution will be of utmost importance for succeeding in this role.
Breakdown of main responsibilities:
- Business Development: Lead the growth and development of the Global Innovator and Unicorn communities by identifying and assessing potential community members
- Build a meaningful membership pipeline, and systematically convert this pipeline, from igniting the initial outreach, to leading engagement discussions, and closing the contract
- Manage existing Global Innovator and Unicorn accounts to build long-term, trusted relationships, rooted in the mission and vision of the World Economic Forum
- Proactively connect community members with relevant World Economic Forum centres, platforms and initiatives to foster a mutually beneficial engagement
- Contribute to community-related projects and priorities, including the design and development of community events and strategic communications
- Build strong relations with the Forum’s centres and platforms, to understand current and future priorities and engagement opportunities for start-ups.
- Identifying and engaging leading start-ups that are aligned with the mission of the Forum.
- Growing the Forum’s innovator communities in numbers, relevance, and depth of engagement.
- Collaborating effectively with the innovator team, other business teams, as well as the Forum’s platforms and initiatives to drive impact and help build a strong pipeline.
Preferred requirements and experience:
- Broad intellectual background, with a master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- 7+ years of work experience in a relevant field, working across sectors in a multistakeholder, international environment
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage long-term, trust-based relationships with senior stakeholders in the private sector

- Passionate about start-ups, innovation and technology
- Strategic and creative skills in project management, research, writing and presentation
- Flexible, self-starting attitude and the interpersonal, organizational and cross-cultural collaboration skills needed to work in a fast-paced, demanding, international environment
- Excellent oral and written English; any other language is an asset
