**Job Purpose/Role**
The Third Party Middle Office is a key function within the Chief Markets Office (CMO) at Allianz Re. It provides the services and tools required by the Third Party Front Office, which is the client facing team within CMO in charge of sourcing reinsurance business for Allianz Re from Third Party cedents (i.e. from non affiliated companies).
The responsibilities of the Third Party Middle Office include in particular pricing of the relevant reinsurance treaty business, wording reviews and deal analytics as well as ongoing performance monitoring and support of planning and reporting in close collaboration with the Third Party Front Office. Allianz Re is targeting Third Party business including agricultural business globally with specific focus on certain European, Asian and selective US markets. Going forward, the Middle Office will play a vital role in shaping and optimizing the Third Party portfolio from a risk-reward perspective and supporting data driven decisions in a deal/portfolio context.
The Experienced Underwriter P&C and Agri will be joining our Wallisellen based team and will be instrumental for continuing the successful development of the Third Party agricultural business globally in close collaboration with our Munich and Singapore based teams.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Property and Casualty (P&C) treaty underwriting for external reinsurance programmes including specialty line of business Agriculture which encompasses Crop, Livestock, Forestry, Pet, Equine and Aquaculture insurance, including:
- Analysis of P&C and agriculture treaty submissions from external customers and submission/reinsurance proposals, documentation of results and underwriting recommendations.
- Co-ordination of the technical analysis and close co-operation with different teams and functions within Allianz Re and Allianz Group as required (e.g. CUO Actuarial Pricing, Governance & Technical Underwriting, Nat Cat Modelling etc.).
- Pricing and wording reviews of Third Party reinsurance programmes within the framework of the Allianz Re underwriting guidelines.
- Provision of technical opinions to the Third Party Client Management function and input for related tasks (e.g. retrocession placement, risk capital calculation, etc.).
- Development of market knowledge and evaluation of market trends and technical aspects for agriculture business (e.g. micro-insurance; index products; revenue products).
- Gathering of in-depth understanding of cedents in terms of insurance underwriting skills, reinsurance strategy and buying behaviour.
- Monitoring of treaty performance of reinsurance business underwritten. Preparation, analysis and reporting of estimates and planning figures.
- Management of internal communication to ensure alignment of opinion about relevant P&C and agriculture reinsurance programs within Allianz Re.
- Project work within Allianz Re.
**Qualification**
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in a relevant field, e.g. Agriculture, Agri-Business, Veterinary Science, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or a related field, e.g. Economics, Business Administration.
- Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel, experience with GIS software is a plus.
- Proficiency in English, a second language is a plus.
- University Degree.
**Experience & Key skills**
- 5 or more years of practical work experience in (re)insurance (related) companies, preferably in an agricultural underwriting or agriculture business development role, is a must.
- Very good understanding of treaty reinsurance practice and techniques.
- Strong analytical skills. Ability to identify and interpret critical aspects in contract wordings in line of business agriculture within a short timeframe.
- Solid understanding of insurance companies’ financial statements and representation of reinsurance contracts therein.
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate across different functions, cultures and managerial levels.
- Accurate and reliable working style.
- Strong team player, able to collaborate across a global organization, across functions and cultures.
- Willingness and ability to learn about new topics and to analyse complex problems.
- High level of drive and motivation.
