HPC Technical Support Consultant (f/m/d)
This role has been designated as ‘Edge’, which means you will primarily work outside of an HPE office.

HPE’s HPC team heritage is built from the best elements of HPE, SGI and Cray and we are looking for self-motivated, technically competent individuals with computer maintenance skills and experience to join the High Performance Computing team supporting operational services based in Lugano, Switzerland.
Experience and skills in Linux operating systems, cluster management, job schedulers and high speed networking are mandatory requirements. Knowledge and experience in areas such as, storage solutions, Lustre and Kubernetes would be highly desirable.
As a resident Technical Consultant (remote), you will be working as part of a dedicated HPC team to deliver preventive and reactive support to ensure compliance with strict SLA's (Service Level Agreement) associated with the customer contract.
This position is in Lugano, a town in southern Switzerland in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino bordering Italy. The town lies on Lake Lugano, surrounded by the mountains of the Lugano Prealps. In a typical day as **HPC Technical Support Consultant **you:
- Responsible for providing technical support and/or leadership in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to meet customers’ business needs and, consequently, for understanding customers’ businesses
- Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods.
- Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an indepth evaluation of multiple factors. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives.
- Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies.
- Exercises significant independent judgment to determine the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
- Ensure compliance with customer rules for change management controls
- Coordinates implementation of new installations, designs, and migrations of technology solutions
- Collects and determines data from appropriate sources to assist in determining customer needs and requirements.
- Occasionally work as part of a wider team to provide support to other customers within EMEA
- Analyze, qualify, troubleshoot and resolve incidents with the appropriate level of autonomy and expertise
- Maintain meticulous records of support actions and outcomes within the case management systems
- Follow technical escalation procedures to ensure critical issues receive maximum focus
- Engages in technical problem solving across multiple technologies.
- Collaborate with our local team, customer and remotely with the provider support chain (Center of Excellence and engineering) on resolving complex issues
- Actively contribute to the company’s solutions portfolio by providing information ranging from technical knowledge to methodologies based on experience gained from customer projects.
- Shape technical direction and technical strategies within the organization and for external customers.
- Actively collaborate with the customer in technical meetings
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills to provide documentation, case notes, defect reports, or knowledge base articles.
- As a trusted advisor create and maintain effective customer relationships so as to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain knowledge of leading edge technologies and industry/market domain knowledge.
- May provide mentoring and guidance to learning coworkers.
- Owns and manages knowledge sharing within a community (e.g. team, practice, or project).
- Ensures team members support, knowledge sharing and re-use requirements of the project.
- Contributes significant knowledge to job family community.
- Responds to requests for technical information from internal and external stakeholders.
