Are you a motivated Mechanical Technician with a passion for cutting-edge technology, precision assemblies and eager to contribute to scientific instrument development? Join the beam instrumentation group in the Accelerators Systems department, within the section dedicated to the mechanical conception, production and installation of beam instrumentation.

**Your responsibilities**
- Work independently as a technician in the mechanics workshop both on standard machines as well as program and operate a CNC machine.
- Take part into assembly of beam instruments working in a Ultra-High Vacuum environment.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to the instrument specific requirements.
- Install, inspect and maintain beam instruments in the CERN accelerator tunnels.
- Conduct inspections and tests of mechanical parts upon arrival at CERN.
- Participate in the logistics including store and asset management.

**Your profile**

Higher technical diploma in mechanics, machining, design or equivalent. Experience with programming and running a CNC machine necessary.

**Skills**:

- Standard machining (lathes, milling, boring)
- CNC programming and machining
- Experience with mechanical precision assembly
- Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 100% hours per week

Target start date: 01-June-2025

This position involves:

- Work in Radiation Areas.
- Interventions in underground installations.
- A valid driving licence.
- Exposure to ionizing radiation and classified as category A.
- Use of certain mobile work equipment or equipment used for lifting loads (lifting equipment, bridge cranes, aerial work platforms, etc.) requiring a driving authorization.
- Operations on electrical installations or in their vicinity (over 1000 Volt AC or 1500 Volt DC) requiring a specific authorization.
