**Job Description** Your responsibilities**

We are developing and constructing novel high-temperature superconductor (HTS) coils for next-generation high-field accelerator magnets and 'Superconducting Links'—up to 120 metres long—superconducting power transmission lines capable of transporting up to 100,000 A from power converters in an underground service gallery to the new magnets of the High-Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC).

We are seeking motivated technicians to strengthen our team in the development and construction of these coils, devices, and systems. If you are an electrical technician interested in working within a dynamic team on the cabling, splicing, and testing of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) cables and coils, as well as the instrumentation and assembly of superconducting current leads and cryostats, this role might be for you. The position also involves the realisation of industrial data acquisition and control systems.

Key responsibilities include:

- Testing of HTS tapes (REBCO tapes) at cryogenic temperatures
- Re-spooling HTS tapes and cabling HTS cables
- Splicing and testing HTS cables
- Winding, splicing, and testing HTS coils
- Integration of HTS cables into current leads
- Installation of instrumentation for current leads, cryostats, and HTS coils
- Performing electrical tests, including high-voltage assessments
- Developing, wiring, and testing industrial data acquisition and control systems

**Your profile**

**Skills**:

- Electrical work, including cabling, wiring, and the realisation of instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems. Soldering and electrical testing.
- Reading and drafting electrical diagrams, as well as logging and reporting test results and work completed.
- Use of hand tools and (some) mechanical assembly.
- Willingness to learn about high-voltage tests and superconductor tests in liquid nitrogen.
- Fluent in English.

Eligibility criteria:

- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.
