**Associate Legal Counsel (M/F/d)**
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
**The Role**:
As Associate Legal Counsel in the Novelis Europe department, you will report directly to the Regional General Counsel. In this position, you will manage European legal issues and primarily act as a legal advisor relating to contract management, compliance matters, and dispute resolution.
**Role and Responsibilities**:
- Drive compliance of company with applicable governmental rules and regulations and determine appropriate legal actions to mitigate compliance risks
- Provide effective contract management, including contract drafting, negotiation, approval, retention.
- Act as a partner to business leaders by consulting on less complex legal issues and implications of business initiatives.
- Research and analyze actual and potential legal disputes to prepare recommended practical legal actions.
- Monitor relevant legislative and regulatory developments.
- Provide support to global and regional legal team members.
- Liaise with external counsel as required.
**Qualifications**
- Master of Law degree or its equivalent from a European university; license to practice law (i.e. admission to the bar) is a plus.
- No prior legal work experience necessary.
- Verbal and written fluency required in English and German, knowledge of French or Italian is a plus.
- Effective communication skills, and in particular strong relationship management capabilities.
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently as well as working within a team.
- Ability to handle competing tasks and priorities, and to be resourceful and composed under pressure.

Novelis’ European regional headquarters is located just outside of the city of Zürich Switzerland employing approximately 80 people. It covers different corporate functions such as general management finance supply chain metal management human resources corporate communications tax legal information technology and procurement. Its central location in Europe makes it easy to reach other European cities in no time.
