**Position Summary**:
Apellis is seeking an experienced and engaged commercial professional for the role of Associate Director, Commercial Training, International Region. It is an outstanding opportunity to make a significant impact in the organization, setting up the training capability for the first commercial launch for Apellis in the region.

This position will be the first commercial training hire for the International Region and will require a leadership mindset focussed on designing, building and delivery of all training for commercial staff for Geographic Atrophy (GA).

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Create a vision and plan for International commercial training for the GA based on the go-to-market model, customer insights, and business strategies
- Lead execution of the GA curriculum (pre-launch, launch, and post-launch), as well as the competency model(s) to optimize execution over time, seeking feedback from key stakeholders
- Utilize and regionalize existing resources from the US training team
- Where training is to be delivered in a language other than English, lead a train-the -trainer program to be executed locally
- Build strong, positive relationships with other functions including medical, marketing and country commercial teams
- Maintain connections with medical affairs to ensure synergies between medical and commercial training
- Work closely with IT, regualtory, legal, compliance, and other stakeholders to build policies, procedures, and infrastructure related to commercial training to enable execution
- Proactively seek key stakeholder feedback, think holistically about the business, and closely monitor performance against key metrics, ultimately taking accountability for enabling the success of customer-facing teams over the long-term in a highly competitive market
- Efficiently and thoughtfully administer the commercial training budget

**Education, Registration & Certification**:

- BS/BA degree

**Experience**:

- 5-7 years of biotech/pharma experience, with (1) recent and substantial role(s) in a training capacity, and (2) customer-facing roles
- Experience in launches and specialty diseases is preferred

**Skills, Knowledge & Abilities**:

- Track record of delivering an excellent end-to-end learning process, including curriculum design and development, classroom facilitation, and 1/1 coaching
- Passion for understanding and championing the needs of commercial field teams to drive impact for customers as well as motivation and satisfaction for the customer-facing teams
- Motivation to be a part of envisioning and building the training infrastructure, systems, and tactics to ensure launch success
- Ability to navigate and execute independently in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, managing through ambiguity
- Commitment to collaboration and engagement, with a history of success working within in a matrix environment and with agency partners
- An entrepreneurial spirit coupled with the drive to embrace innovation and develop creative but well-reasoned solutions to business challenges
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across functions and varying levels of the organization
- Demonstrated integrity on the job, including an understanding of relevant rules and regulations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Experience with Veeva (preferred)
- Some travelwith in the region, expected to be no more than 30% (e.g., field rides, training events, major commercial field team meetings, etc.)
