Lindt & Sprüngli International is looking for a Biodiversity & Water Manager to join the Group Sustainability team in the company’s Headquarter in Kilchberg, Switzerland. This new role will report directly to the Head of the Group Sustainability Department which oversees the Lindt & Sprüngli Sustainability strategy and work closely with EHS/Operations which manages waste and water in our production facilities and our climate strategy; Procurement which oversees our responsible sourcing; and Cocoa Sustainability which address deforestation and agroforestry in cocoa supply chains. **The Biodiversity & Water Manager will **design, own and oversee the implementation of group-wide water and biodiversity strategies, policies and implementation plans.**
IN THIS ROLE YOUR MAIN TASKS WILL BE TO:
- Further develop or create and take ownership of Group policies, commitments and strategies aimed at identifying, assessing, managing, and remedying significant impacts on water, biodiversity and ecosystems in our value chain and operations.
- Support target/ambition setting, including evaluation of Science-Based Targets for Nature (Land & Water).
- Support breakdown of Group targets and action plans to the country level and support regular review of performance and plans.
- Coordinate and oversee the execution of Group-wide water and biodiversity strategies, policies and implementation plans across various departments such as Operations/EHS and Procurement. This involves defining priority workstreams, supporting road mapping and resource planning, and developing guidance and tools.
- Identify and assess nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities (i.e. LEAP assessment) which help to assess the resilience of the company strategy and business model in relation to water, biodiversity, and ecosystems.
- Establish a methodology and regularly conduct audit-ready biodiversity and water footprint assessments in operations and value chain, collaborating with other departments.
- Direct and oversee the implementation of the cross-functional EU Deforestation Regulation compliance project.
- Ensure qualitative and quantitative non-financial reporting for water and biodiversity is in line with CSRD, GRI, EU taxonomy, CDP and potentially TNFD in the future.
- Represent Lindt & Sprüngli in relevant industry groups and multi-stakeholder associations.
- Monitor regulatory developments, global standards developments and competitor practices related to environmental topics.
YOUR PROFILE:
- Min. 5 years experience in corporate environmental sustainability, ideally with a focus on deforestation, biodiversity and/or water.
- Experience in food & agriculture or consumer goods preferred.
- Strong commitment to and passion for advancing environmental topics in global value chains.
- Knowledge about different reporting standards such as GRI, CSRD, EU Taxonomy, CDP and environmental regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation is a plus.
- Familiarity with global environmental sustainability matters and trends (e.g. SBTN, TNFD).
- Highly effective collaborator with ability to work and partner cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
- Sense of ownership, entrepreneurial mindset, and independent working behaviour.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Fluent spoken and written English. German of advantage.
- Master’s degree in studies related to environmental science, natural resource management, sustainable development, business management or similar preferred.
