**Position Summary**
The Associate Director will be a member of the EMEAI Customs & Trade Compliance [C&TC] group which belongs to the Global Delivery Solutions within BMS’ Global Supply Chain organisation. The role is primarily responsible for the analysis, development and management of solutions to support multiple BMS entities across complex: Commercial, Clinical and Product Development supply chains. The role will work in a multifunctional matrix structure to support all Customs and Trade operations within EMEAI [Europe, Middle East, Africa & India].
The role will drive EMEAI Customs & Trade [C&T] operations and policies in close collaboration with C&TC colleagues globally. The Role will develop: robust procedures, processes and systems across different geographies and scopes. The role is accountable for compliant and timely execution of activities of C&TC supports to the entire value chain of BMS activities in the EMEAI Region - from the movement of raw materials to manufacturing site, all the way to the delivery of fully packaged products to international Clinical and Commercial markets
Key partners for the role will be the C&TC: Americas and Asian teams, Indirect & Direct Tax Functions, Clinical and Commercial teams - collectively working to support the fulfilment of complex and time critical supply chains. The role will provide leadership and guidance to EMEAI and Global CT&C teams. The role reports to the Director, the EMEAI C&TC.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Support the management of efficient importation and exportation of all BMS materials for EMEAI
- Implement and monitor compliance with all BMS and EU/national Customs & Trade: import and export requirements, to ensure uninterrupted supply of all materials within EMEAI.
- Initiate and drive projects to further strengthen all aspects of Customs & Trade Compliance
- Collaborate with BMS functions (Tax (Indirect/Direct), Finance, Clinical, Commercial, Production Development, Transportation, Markets etc.) and third parties to ensure timely physical movements, Customs release and onward supply of BMS materials and medicines in EMEAI.
- Responsible for continuous improvement of C&TC processes and data management workflows
- Provide oversight of all required documentation to ensure accurate and complete documents are available for presentation to Customs.
- Gather, assess and interpret; data to monitor and evaluate the performance of Customs brokers. Work with Importing sites to manage BMS Customs brokers.
- Maintain awareness of import and export Regulatory changes and work with all stakeholders to communicate and update business requirements for uninterrupted supply.
- Support within a regional strategy, but implemented at a national level, efforts to integrate BMS activities with the mitigation of possible duty and associated costs.
- Initiate and support where appropriate company participation and partnership in Supply Chain Security and Import Compliance Programs (i.e., AEO) and Export Control.
- Initiate and support Export Control Compliance programmes within EMEAI
- Initiate and support Import and Export audits
- Ensured all Customs and Trade related records are appropriate and maintained in accordance with BMS and Legal requirements.
- Support other Global Supply Chain (GSC) activities as and when required
- Develop and deliver training as required.
**Qualifications & Experience**
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain or International Trade, preferred.
- A minimum 10 years Supply Chain/Finance/Logistics experience in a multinational environment which includes at least 5 years in a Trade Compliance role
- A clear understanding of national/regional/global Customs and Trade Regulations regarding importing and exporting (as required) in Commercial and Clinical supply chains.
- Sound experience of Customs compliance and supply chain security requirements, other government agency import/export and export control requirements, procedures development and working across a team matrix to expedite product movement under compliant processes and practices.
- Self-starter with high initiative and highly motivated to deliver results. Drives for continuous improvement and demonstrated a can-do approach to problem solving when confronted with challenging situations.
