Tenure Track Assistant Professorship for Small

Effective January 1, 2024, the Small Animal Surgery section in the Department of Clinical Veterinary Science of the Vetsuisse Faculty at the University of Bern will have the position (level of employment of 100% FTE) of a "Tenure Track Assistant Professorship for Small Animal Surgery" to be occupied. The position entails being deputy head of the Small Animal Surgery office.

Tasks

The main tasks include undergraduate teaching, service and supervision of residents in the field of small animal surgery as well as the independent implementation of research projects with the aim of obtaining a habilitation (i.e. qualification to teach at a university) and the supervision of PhD students, Dr.med.vet. and master students.

The initial term of employment is four years. In the event of a positive evaluation based on the qualification criteria, the appointment may be extended for two years. If the qualification criteria are met, the promotion to an associate professorship takes place after four years at the earliest, and after six years at the latest.
