**Assistant Professor (with Tenure Track) for Data Science in Diabetes Care****:
The position will be attached academically to the Chair of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the University of Bern and the University Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology, Nutritional Medicine and Metabolism (UDEM). UDEM is a leading clinical and research department at Inselspital, University Hospital Bern, and the Medical Faculty of the University of Bern, with a strong research track on diabetes technology and digitally enabled diabetes care. Together with the DCB, UDEM is committed to conceiving, designing, and validating new approaches and solutions based on cutting-edge technology and data science to solve unmet clinical needs in diabetes care. In line with the medical faculty's 2030 digitalization strategy, the position is embedded in an innovative multi-disciplinary research network that includes the Center for AI in Medicine (CAIM), the Department of Clinical Research (DCR), and the Insel Data Science Center (IDSC).
- understand unmet clinical needs for patient benefit in the field of diabetes care,
- design and develop comprehensive data environments and platforms,
- develop strategies to handle large and complex data sets combining various sources and formats, including unstructured data,
- pursue data-science research with a strong understanding of regulatory processes and requirements, including data protection regulation,
- incorporate systematic regulatory activities that facilitate compliant clinical investigation,
- seek out targeted technology cooperation with pertinent industry partners,
- facilitate commercial exploitation through an entrepreneurial mindset and vision.
