**JOB PURPOSE**
- The Director Strategy & M&A is a valued strategic partner for the Business Group Leadership Team, providing thought leadership, guidance and consultancy on all strategy, earnings growth and M&A related matters.**Key Responsibilities**
- Own the development of AFEMEA’s strategy based on the principles of Where To Play and How to Win and drive the strategic choices regarding resource prioritization that will enable profitable growth
- Understand and provide insights on relevant market trends, segmentation, competitors, and potential opportunities for expansion and growth. This includes establishing and maintaining contact with a network of stakeholders and advisors
- Work with the AFEMEA leadership team to translate strategic recommendations into actionable operational business plans, as required. Develop necessary relationships and nurture potential strategic opportunities from ideation to implementation
- Lead and contribute to the annual Strategic Plan process, including coordinating strategic plan development across the AFEMEA Business Group
- Based on the agreed strategy identify any non-core assets and drive business portfolio discussions along with concrete earnings growth platforms and ideas
- Using a fact-based and hypothesis-driven approach, develop and present actionable strategic recommendations which may include entry into new markets/segments, development of new technologies, processes and/or business models; mergers; acquisitions; etc.
- Based on the agreed strategy identify, profile, assess and develop relationships with potential external acquisition targets

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Professional**
- A strong track record as a Strategy leader in European businesses of significant scale (~€3bn) involving multiple countries, ideally as part of a multi-national FMCG corporation
- Significant M&A experience is a plus, but not a requirement
- Innovative in developing insights and creating unique business models/approaches
- Proven ability to develop, operationalise and execute a business strategy, by gathering and analyzing data, evaluating alternate business models and hypotheses, and creating practical action plans that take strategies to results
- Ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels, drive consensus within the organization, and develop trust-based executive level relationships
- Solid business acumen and experience working in a cross functional de-centralised operating environment
- Likely to have solid business grounding formed in top tier professional services organisation (eg. BCG, Bain, McKinsey)
- Ability to manage multiple strategic projects simultaneously leveraging internal and external resources
- Must be able to work in - and enjoy working in - a fast-paced global environment

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
- MBA and/or other relevant degree qualifications
- 10+ years of post-MBA experience with a leading global management consulting firm or leading a corporate strategy team with a focus on international business strategy and/or business development
- Ideally, currently in a similar corporate role with B2B background preferred
- Transformation, pre
- and post-merger integration and M&A experience would be an advantage
- International business experience; emerging market experience a plus
- Multi-lingual / multi-cultural business fluency a plus
