Lead Direct Material sourcing for Lonza Small Molecules division. Partner with Lonza Evaluation & Program Management for New Business and Early Phase Project, Development and Technology Transfer programs. Ensure deep understanding of the Advanced Chemicals and CDMO worldwide market, with a strong focus on the Indian market. Support unique selling positions ahead of the competition, provide effective sourcing strategies that enable new business opportunities and innovation, step change improvements in quality and service at competitive cost.

Key responsibilities:

- Business Stakeholder Management: Own the interface to Lonza Evaluation & Program Management for New Business and Early Phase Project, Development and Technology Transfer programs. Align procurement and business requirements & expectations. Drive proactively communications and support decision making. Engage as needed with other internal stakeholders (corporate functions or sites). Represent procurement in key customer interactions in relation with assigned scope, upon business request.
- Sourcing: Responsible for providing prices, cost estimates and initial sourcing strategies for new businesses & early stage projects under assessment. For Tech Transfer and Development Programs, serve as a technical resource during the identification and evaluation of potential raw material manufacturers. Support strategies to drive further value into active commercial programs and for specific technical challenges.
- Risk management: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand business impact of assigned portfolio. Establish risk management strategies and drive development and implementation of appropriate risk mitigation plans. Coordinate with appropriate key stakeholders in case of major issues with assigned portfolio (crisis management).
- Continuity of supply: Ensure business continuity for the assigned portfolio. Drive awareness of active supply issues clarifying business impact and lead resolution plans. Deeply assess supply base and identify risks of supply disruption or competitiveness gaps.
- Deliver measurable value and competitive procurement costs: Work closely with key stakeholders to develop procurement value, margin improvement and implementation plans that meet business needs. For assigned portfolio, lead negotiations and take accountability. Drive cost reduction plans. Document savings pipeline to optimize TCO.
- Category Management & Strategic Procurement: Analyze business requirements, associated spend information, competitive market intelligence and demand plans. Develop and maintain knowledge on supply market, supply economics, supply processes and supply cost drivers for the assigned portfolio, including staying abreast of new technologies. Deep understanding of the Advanced Chemicals and CDMO worldwide market, with a strong focus on the Indian market. Match internal demand with market insights into actionable strategies for the assigned portfolio.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Lead key suppliers relationship management and development activities for assigned portfolio. Build a strong and reliable supply base as differentiator to competition. Identify suitable suppliers and evaluate their capability. Coordinate qualification of new suppliers to support innovative solutions ahead of competition. Review suppliers performances and CAPA plan with Lonza sites operational buyers. Support sites operational buyers to resolve complaints and quality issues.
- Processes, tools and Systems: Ensure compliance with Lonza standards and regulatory requirements. Support roll-out of Lonza procedures, policies and guidelines. Support Procurement initiatives, roll-out of procurement tools, processes and systems.
- Personal development and capability building: Define personal development goals & needs and potential associated training. Complete mandatory training and capability building program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Key requirements:

- Master’s degree minimum; MBA preferred; Preferred area of study: Chemistry and Purchasing or Business Development
- Extensive years of experience in procurement within in the pharmaceutical industry
- Highly experienced more than 10 years’ experience in Sourcing & Procurement to deliver early phase & new business requirements
- Deep understanding of the Advanced Chemicals and CDMO worldwide market, with a strong focus on the Indian market.
