**General Description**
This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and visionary teacher to work closely with administrators and
a wider team to deepen a culture of student centred learning and pedagogical practices across the High
School.
The student support services teacher and instructional coach will be responsible for supporting students
on the Student Support Services Team (SSST) register and also providing instructional support and
coaching to teachers as we transition to a Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework and further
develop student centred and inquiry driven pedagogical approaches and practices.
The primary role of the SSST and Instructional Coach is to, as part of a team, build the capacity of
teachers, work with teachers to support best practices in using data (such as MAP), provide analysis of
classroom and school-wide trends in instruction and make recommendations about potential next steps to
address areas of individual needs of students. Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
planning would be an advantage in supporting this work.
As an advisor to teachers and principals, the coach is responsible for providing support in instructional
planning and delivery, specially designed instruction, analysing data in order to adapt curriculum, and
sharing of best practices across all academic disciplines. The coach will support educators across all
content areas but will also support teachers in implementing specially designed instruction and
interventions for students.
In addition, all teachers participate in our student Personal Development Programme as a Homeroom,
PSHE or Service Project leader and are also expected to support an ethos of holistic learning through
their support of an after school club, activity or sport.
**Areas of Responsibility**
**Working with ISZL Students**
Case management of students with identified learning needs
- develop and implement ILPs (individual learning plans)
- support students through a multi-disciplinary SST team
- maintain regular contact with students on your caseload through learning support classes
or one-on-one meetings
- letters, phone calls, or meetings as appropriate- Planning and delivery of Learning Support classes
- use evidence based strategies to support student learning
- work with students to develop student-led ILPs
- support student self-advocacy
- report on learning and goal progress
- Ensure that appropriate accommodations are provided to all students with an identified learning
need
- o communicate accommodations with teachers, parents and students
- support teachers to implement accommodations in the classroom
- understand how to read and interpret psycho-educational testing reports
- proctor and provide accommodations and modifications support to students taking the
ACER, PSAT, IB, AP, and internal ISZL exams throughout the school year
- Participate in Personal Development Week (experiential education trip) and our Personal
Development Programme (i.e, teaching PSHE, Homeroom or Service as Action).
- Contribute to the smooth running of the school through performing regular duties and being
familiar with school policies.
- Lead by example and partner with students in their engagement with the community, locally,
nationally, and internationally.

Thinks strategically and supports all stakeholders in a transition to MTSS, in conjunction with the
- Director of Student Support Services and the wider student support services team.- Supporting teachers with designing and implementing rigorous and culturally responsive
- strategies that meet the learning needs of students.- Provides instructional coaching in all academic areas which includes student-centered
observation-feedback cycles with individual teachers focused on improving student outcomes
through effective instruction and assessment.

- Creates an environment that establishes and promotes continuous improvement for student
- outcomes.- Collaborates with teachers and provides specific strategies for improved instructional delivery
with research-based instructional strategies and interventions to improve achievement for all
students.
