The Institute of Philosophy at the University of Bern offers a PhD position within the international project "Beyond Causal Exclusion: New Challenges for Multi-Level Causal Models". The aim of the project is to develop a theory of causation that can adequately describe causal structures that span multiple levels (such as the physical, biological, and psychological levels).

**Responsibilities**:
You will conduct research within the overall theme of the project and write a dissertation in philosophy. The dissertation will be supervised jointly by Vera Hoffmann-Kolss and Thomas Krödel. In addition, you will organize workshops and meetings for the project, participate in international conferences, and regularly attend both internal project meetings as well as colloquia and seminars at the Institute of Philosophy in Bern. You may also contribute to teaching and supervision in areas relevant to your PhD project.

**Requirements**:

- Excellent Master's degree in philosophy or a field relevant to the project
- Ideally a background in metaphysics and philosophy of science with a focus on theories of causation
- Willingness to actively participate in an international research project
- Excellent writing and communication skills and a good command of written and spoken English
