**Primary Job**

Integrated into the Strategic Management Office (SMO) of Abbott’s Established Pharmaceuticals Division (EPD) in Basel, Switzerland, this team is is tasked with (1) defining growth objectives around portfolio, markets and technology requirements (2) shaping the organization for effectiveness and (3) ensuring sustainability of the processes and operating model defined under the first two objectives.

As Director Strategy you are accountable for leading strategic initiatives to support the growth and development of EPD. Primary focus of this role will be on strategic and transformational initiatives which can be Global and cross functional, as well as Business Unit or Function specific. In all cases, the role works closely together with stakeholders from these areas to deliver business improvement and change.

You will drive strategy projects, margin improvement and optimization initiatives, carrying the relevant financial and operational goals on these initiatives. This role includes project management of critical and strategic initiatives, independent analysis / assessment of initiatives and the coordination / facilitation of corporate reporting. Last but not least you will lead internal and external cross-functional teams to assess optimal process and organizational design and make recommendations around structure, operating set-up and ultimate end state.

**Core Responsibilities**:

- Continually refine the future vision of the organization. Develop structured processes to ensure sustainability of the business
- Identify and conduct detailed design of strategic / transformational initiatives and projects, bringing in best practices and insights from internal and external sources (market, competition and other industries) into the project design
- Influence EPD leadership team members on changes arising out of key project recommendations, with sound logic and supporting insights
- Assess and challenge all departmental processes with an eye towards innovation and operational excellence
- Together with functions and geographies, own the execution and delivery of chosen transformation projects and ensure regular problem solving, tracking and de-bottlenecking
- Coordinate and facilitate corporate reporting of the strategic initiatives and business status

**Leadership**:

- In this position you will have 2 direct reports
- In addition extensiv matrix leadership responsibility within programs

**Minimum Experience/Training Required**:

- Graduate from a reputed institute; MBA from a reputed institute highly preferred
- 10-12 years of total experience required, including industry experience.
- Prior experience in driving strategic projects and cross functional teams is a must.
- Prior experience in emerging markets is preferred.
- Prior experience in pharma / healthcare industry and several years in a top tier startegy consulting company is strongly preferred
