The Global Drug Development (GDD) organization oversees the development of new medicines discovered by our researchers and partners. We are 11,000 associates worldwide working together to reimagine medicine.- The role will be a core member of the Data and Digital Asset-Enhancing Strategy (DDAS) Team of associates working with drug asset teams to define the asset’s D&D strategy. The Digital Innovation Director will be responsible for creating the strategies, including an assessment of value and feasibility, tracking endorsed solutions, and supporting the execution of digital initiatives as needed. The role requires the ability to manage and drive a wide variety of innovative data science and digital initiatives.
- Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Identify unmet needs and opportunities where data science and digital solutions can positively impact GDD assets and operations and contributes to the formulation and implementation of Data & Digital Asset-Enhancing Strategies (DDAS)
- Act as a data science and/or digital authority with strong project management expertise to coordinate DDAS activities, including the engagement with, and coordination of multi-disciplinary stakeholders
- Lead and own solution-specific deep-dives with initiative teams and multi-disciplinary global product team (GPT) stakeholders
- Partner with Global Line Functions to identify business challenges, match needs with potential digital solutions, and drive scoping activities as well as evaluates disruptive technologies
- Work closely with business SMEs and technology experts to structure innovative programs that deliver value to Novartis drug pipeline
- Support optimization and tracking of data science and digital initiative delivery across varying areas of technological disciplines with the core objective of meeting key business needs and delivering value
- Support digital partners and leaders in effectively implementing data and digital technologies and strategies across GDD and the wider Novartis organization
- Participate in initiatives (within and outside of GDD D&D) to identify, develop and implement improvements to ways of working and to accelerate innovative initiatives

**Minimum requirements**
- What you’ll bring to the role:
- Advanced degree in engineering / computer science or other technical degrees or equivalent experience in life science. Fluency in English (written and oral).
- 6+ years data and digital / technology industry or consulting experience
- 4+ years project leadership experience with preferably 2+ years pharmaceutical or healthcare experience
- Advanced understanding and direct relevant experience with one or more data science and/or digital technology domains, and pharmaceutical development
- Advanced project / program management skills with demonstrated experience developing, launching and leading projects/programs within a complex matrix environment
- Experience of working with large scale and complex international and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong experience in engaging and communicating with, and influencing senior leaders as well as cultural sensitivity and appreciation of the power of diversity in teams
- Demonstrable experience of problem definition and problem solving and experience of scenario development and evaluation
- Comfortable with, and enjoys working in uncertain environments, and navigating uncharted territory
