The Vice President will report to the Senior Vice President, Commercial Affairs and Strategy for International Operations. This position is based at our office in Zurich, Switzerland.

**The Position**
As the Vice President, Rare Disease for International Operations you will drive execution excellence across International Operations and develop capabilities within Rare Disease. We expect you to establish a clear and confident voice on behalf of International Operations towards the Global Rare Disease organisation on all operational matters and provide input to the various Global Rare Disease teams on strategy as it relates to countries and regions in International Operations. You will also deliver updates, recommendations and information regarding the Rare Disease portfolio, the International Operations Rare Disease organisation and target setting. The position leads across the International Operations and Rare Disease matrix of seven key regional stakeholders with two direct reports.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead and ensure execution of operational initiatives to realize commercial opportunities in line with regional International Operations and Global Rare Disease business priorities.
- Build capabilities in regions and countries relating to operational excellence across Rare Disease therapeutic areas plus provide training and coaching.
- Drive collaboration efforts with International Operations regions/countries, Global Rare Disease and Headquarters to ensure cross-functional and organizational alignment for the Rare Disease portfolio. Ensure proper preparation for embarking on new Therapy Areas.
- Monitor and assess market developments and opportunities (commercial, medical, access etc.) with high business impact and provide recommendations for actions.
- Ensure that a clear International Operations (reflecting seven regions) perspective is raised at Global and Headquarters level.
- Drive discussions and alignments through strong and impactful communication.
- Coordinate prioritisation, task assignment and provide expert advice (functional leadership) to region and country Rare Disease colleagues.
- Take an active role in problem-solving operational challenges as they arise and provide expert advice to navigating market changes in Rare Disease therapeutic areas.
- Engage with top customers and key opinion leaders at the invitation of affiliates to represent Novo Nordisk Rare Disease and International Operations with a high degree of confidence and professionalism.
- Lead team of direct reports in Zurich and many stakeholders worldwide.

**Qualifications**
To thrive and succeed in this role, we expect you to have:

- Master’s degree in life science or business
- 15+ years of experience in the pharma industry in a commercial capacity at country and business area or regional level with frequent customer engagement with medical professionals, preferably in Rare Disease franchises
- Experience from roles with P&L responsibility with a clear track record of driving performance and commercial excellence
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage stakeholders in complex multinational environment
- Knowledge and profound experience in working with commercial, access and medical functions
- Effectively and persuasively articulating complex issues to key decision makers
- Analysing complex issues, utilising strategic thinking and implementing tactical plans
- Project management experience
- Fluent in written and spoken English
