Technology is changing the way we think about drug treatment efficacy and the practice of medicine. Sensor technologies are rapidly evolving to measure more and more body functions and many aspects of patient’s daily life. Sensors produce vast amounts of data, and we use advanced analytics to gain transformative endpoints for our clinical trials. These novel digital endpoints have begun to clarify health benefits in ways that previously were unmeasurable.
- Clinical research at the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research (NIBR) represents the early evaluation of drugs in humans with and without disease in established or new indications. As such, the inclusion of digital endpoints in NIBR studies aims to deepen and broaden our understanding of patient burden, disease progression, and treatment response, in the earliest stages of the Novartis clinical drug development process.
- As a member of the Quantitative Sciences & Innovation (QSI) unit in Biomarker Development, you will develop new digital endpoints by combining emerging technologies and advanced analytics. You will join Novartis’ clinical trial teams to speed new medicines into the clinic across one of the industry’s largest and most innovative portfolios. You are passionate and curious scientist, eager to bring creative solutions to biology’s most daunting challenges on our journey to reimagine medicine. Working alongside dedicated physicians and biomarker scientists, our Data Scientists provide the analytical insights that drive Translational success.

- 2. Participate in and lead cross-functional biomarker & exploratory collaborations with Discovery and Development partners to support novel target discovery, biomarker identification, patient stratification, disease understanding and indication expansion opportunities- 4. **Minimum requirements**
- What you'll need:
- 1. PhD or MSc or equivalent experience in biomedical engineering, signal processing, computer science, machine learning, data science, statistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related field
- 2. Solid experience in analysing large and small biological datasets and different data modalities (digital, multi-omics, RWE)
- 3. Excellent knowledge and understanding of statistical methods and machine learning
- 4. Working experience with R or Python and SQL. Working experience with web-based computing platform and version control
- 5. Demonstrated knowledge of data visualization, exploratory and explanatory analysis, and experimental design
- 6. Strong grasp of high dimensional exploratory biomarker platforms (e.g., next generation sequencing, transcriptomics, proteomics, flow cytometry, time-series data, survival data)
- 7. Analytical mentality and problem-solving proficiency, strong ownership mentality
- 8. Excellent communication and ability to translate analytical concepts for diverse audiences and business leaders.
