The doctoral researcher will examine the political debate and narratives about animal experimentation used in Swiss direct-democratic campaigns and explore their influence on public opinion.

The position is part of the research project A public policy and ethical analysis of the debate on research with animals in Switzerland financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
The project is implemented by the Ethics and Policy Lab of the Multidisciplinary Center for Infectious Diseases (MCID). The doctoral researcher will collaborate with another doctoral researcher, who anal-yses public discourse from an ethical perspective. The PhD position is funded for four years and is affiliated with the KPM Center for Public Management.

Tasks
- Conduct empirical (media analysis, survey experiments) and write a PhD dissertation
- Publish in international scientific journals and present at international conferences
- Organise public outreach events to foster high quality public debate
- Collaboration in the Ethics and Policy Lab and within the MCID

**Requirements**:

- Excellent Master's degree in political science, administrative science, communication studies, or a related discipline
- Very good knowledge of empirical research methods
- Very good knowledge of German and English, French is an asset
- Knowledge of the Narrative Policy Framework is an asset
