The Bank for International Settlements, BIS has an opportunity for an Principal Enterprise Architect to join our ITS team.

***Purpose of the role**:

As the Bank’s Principal Enterprise Architect, you will lead all aspects of Enterprise Architecture (EA), working across ITS and Line of Business (LOB) IT teams, Corporate Security, and operational risk management to build a Bank-wide EA practice. You will collaborate with leadership on strategy and an architectural vision to satisfy the complex business and technological needs of today and well into the future.

- Present and advise on the Bank's enterprise architecture strategy to senior leadership and external audiences within the IFI and central banking community.

**Principle accountabilities**:

- Chair the IT Architecture Group (ITAG), a formal, Bank-wide governance forum responsible for advising IT management and governance bodies on key architecture decisions and defining EA standards
- Define and maintain all architecture-related aspects of the BIS's IT Strategy, including a company-wide architectural vision, set of standards, roadmaps, and strategic architectural solutions, working with members of ITAG, business areas, and the IT Management Group (ITMG)
- Work in close collaboration with LOB architects to establish and then oversee effective, Bank-wide enterprise architecture practices and tools and ensure they are embedded within the activities of all IT teams
- Mentor and develop high-performing architects throughout the organization
- Advise LOB technology teams on strategic solution design and support them in ensuring that their business needs are met and meet the Bank’s EA standards
- Drive strategic technology selection, evaluation and proof-of-concept initiatives
- Alleviate integration work among IT teams by maturing common architectures and simplifying / consolidating when appropriate, so they can work together seamlessly
- Continuously improve the Bank’s software and product development capabilities by conducting code reviews, participating in kick-offs and retrospectives, advising on best practices, and helping engineers optimize systems and processes
- Establish internal policy, controls and monitoring related to architectural governance and compliance in partnership with Procurement, management and the Legal Services
- Lead the technical vetting and support in the evaluation of potential vendors
- Monitor and share industry trends to continuously improve the technology functions’ capabilities
- Foster collaboration amongst the central banking technology architecture community including participating on panels or giving talks at venues like the Technology Leadership Forum (TLF)

**Qualifications, skills, experience**:

- Extensive experience in Enterprise Architecture and/or IT solution architecture in the central banking or financial services industry
- Familiarity or certification in one or more enterprise architecture frameworks
- Experience chairing IT governance forums in an environment with diverse customers handling conflicting priorities
- Experience in managing a large group of senior stakeholders and interacting with / presenting to executive audiences
- Broad knowledge of enterprise technology across multiple functional and technology domains and enterprise IT vendor landscape
- Analytical, detailed with the ability to research and problem-solve effectively
- Ability to communicate to achieve understanding and agreement across all levels off the organization
