- 4 months and 6 days**Responsibilities**:

- Under the supervision of the Programme Officers, the consultant will perform the following tasks: A) PDF publication of the second effectiveness evaluation report (document UNEP/POPS/ COP.11/INF/36) A1: Graphic design definition (estimated duration: one month) Output A1.a: In close collaboration with the BRS Secretariat, the consultant will collect all required texts, images, illustrations, tables and underlaying data used to generate graphics presented in the report in order to prepare the work. Output A1.b: The consultant will define the necessary style sheets and other graphic elements, based on BRS Secretariat branding guidelines. The consultant will prepare a prototype based on the InDesign software, using the style sheets and a few other graphic elements, to generate a demo of the PDF and Web version of the report for validation purposes. The design will take into account the need for a PDF and online interactive version of the report. The design will be user friendly and outline the functionalities that will facilitate access to the information contained in the report. Output A2: Repackaging of the report using the InDesign software (estimated duration: one month and 5 days) The consultant will import in InDesign all the information contained in the report and re-package it according to the approved graphic design (see output 1). The consultant will incorporate the necessary illustrative images, cover page and inner pages. The consultant will also re-package, where possible, the charts, graphics and tables to be incorporated in the publication. The consultant will also perform the necessary adjustments to adapt the publication to a PDF version of the report optimized for screens and the online web-based version of the report. The PDF version of the report will be delivered. Output A3: Content indexation to facilitate access to information (estimated duration: one month) The consultant will review existing taxonomies used by the BRS Secretariat to index information. The consultant will then import the necessary taxonomy in InDesign and tag reports sections, chapters and other content to facilitate navigation, searchability and readability of the report interactive web version. Output B: Development of the online, interactive and searchable version of the second effectiveness evaluation report (estimated duration: one month) The consultant will export the report’s content and indexes from InDesign into XML, or another database, and perform the necessary cleanup to ease performance. The consultant will integrate the report, its visuals, navigation elements and search functions into the Stockholm Convention website. The consultant will also generate animations and specific interactivity functions for an agreed selection of key charts.
- Qualifications/special skills
- An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in graphic design, marketing, computer science, digital media, or related field is required. A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible working experience in the field of web design, digital media, or graphic design Experience in the design and layout of publications, including digital reports, brochures, fact sheets, and other informational materials is required. Experience in indexing and cataloguing information using taxonomies is desirable. Experience in developing information packages for websites based on the DotNetNuke content management system is desirable. Experience in producing information materials using InDesign is desirable. Experience in working with information on hazardous chemicals and wastes is desirable. Experience in working with international organizations dealing with environmental issues is desirable.
- Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Fluency in another UN official language is desirable.
