Functional Testing Director

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Director of Functional Testing for the DePuy Synthes R&D Research and Testing organization. The location of the role could be any of the Research & Development sites supporting the DePuy Synthes businesses. (Raynham MA, West Chester PA, Warsaw IN, Palm Beach Gardens FL, Leeds UK, or Oberdorf, Switzerland)

The Director of Functional Testing for the Research & Testing organization will lead a team providing world class evidence in partnership with cross functional product development teams to deliver safe, effective, and differentiated MedTech products to our customers using innovative solutions. They will lead the department across all the DePuy Synthes businesses creating a culture of collaboration across the sites and platforms by being embedded in the product development (NPI) and lifecycle management (LCM) teams focused on generating pre-clinical benchtop evidence for all programs.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Build and drive a culture of collaboration with cross functional partners to enable rapid and continuous research, optimize designs early to avoid loops in the design process, and evaluate concepts to inform decisions and deliver quality products.
- Establish and maintain communications with all NPI and LCM teams across the business to enable a fast, efficient, focused evidence required to support our products for global regulatory and marketing claims.
- Build and execute operational strategies for the Functional Testing department. Development and implementation of resource & budget strategies ensuring accurate alignment to DePuy Synthes and platform prioritization. Creation a robust governance process for communication, status updates, metrics, and dashboards.
- Develop and mentor talent. Focus on building robust development plans, competency models, internal growth, promotion, and retention of talent.
- Enable a cultural shift to drive pre-charter involvement on product development teams to change from a “make it and break it” mentality to a pre-emptive technology de-risking and digital first mentality.
- Build opportunities for efficiencies in how work can be done, through a continuous improvement attitude.
- Collaborate and partner with cross functions in Quality, Regulatory and Product Development to help shape policies and work instructions to drive new innovative ways of working.

**Qualifications**
Education**:

- Must hold a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering or Science Field

**Required**:

- A minimum of 10 years of product development and/or research & testing experience is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of supervisory / managerial experience is also required.
- Experience in a regulated environment is required
- Ability to lead and develop others is required
- A demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional and senior management to impact decision-making is required, as are strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to review and critically assess documentation is a must
- Ability to travel 20% domestic and international.

**Preferred**:

- Medical Device and Materials experience preferred
