Bern, Schweiz Universität Bern Vollzeit

The Child and Adolescent Health Research Group, headed by Prof. Dr. med. Claudia Kuehni, conducts population-based and clinical studies in child health, with a focus on childhood cancer and respiratory disorders.

Most children diagnosed with cancer can be cured nowadays, but the intensive treatments cause health problems in many childhood cancer survivors. The Swiss Childhood Cancer Survivor Study (SCCSS) is a broad research program on long-term somatic and psychosocial outcomes of childhood cancer, with national studies and several international collaborations. We look for an experienced research fellow or epidemiologist, who will be responsible for the project management of the SCCSS and oversee the data collection in childhood cancer survivors.

Job description

You will work at ISPM Bern and will manage the SCCSS. This will include the following tasks:

- Organize questionnaire surveys to survivors and their siblings
- Develop and conduct online questionnaire surveys and databases
- Supervise data collection, data cleaning, and preparation of research datasets
- Oversee the study databases, prepare datasets for collaborative national and international studies
- Communicate with stakeholders including clinicians, patient organizations, participants, etc.
- Analyze data, write publications for peer-reviewed journals and present results at conferences
- Support nested clinical projects in the childhood cancer research group

**Requirements**:

- PhD, MD or MSc in public health, epidemiology, paediatrics, or a related field.
- Experience in questionnaire development and collection of health-related data
- Experience in working with study databases and data management for research purposes
- Ideally experience with clinical studies and hospital-based research
- Strong scientific and non-scientific writing and communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of English and German (French would be an asset)
- Ability to work independently and interact with interdisciplinary teams.
- Interest in paediatrics, child health and childhood cancer in particular

The position is available immediately, with negotiable date of start and offered for 2 years initially, but longer-term employment preferable. Salary depends on qualification and experience.
