Security Investigator

The Security Investigator (Foreign Service National Investigator FSNI) is an important member of our dynamic Regional Security Office and pays a crucial role in the Embassy's security. As part of their regular duties, the Security Investigator (FSNI) liaises with Swiss law enforcement agencies (such as Police, Airport Security, Explosive Ordinance Disposal, and Immigration Services). They conduct background investigations for prospective local employees and contractors and assist with certain aspects of U.S. passport and visa fraud investigations. The Security Investigator (FSNI) also provides key Embassy personnel, including the Ambassador, with up-to-date information regarding local security practices and Swiss criminal and civil law.

In addition, the Security Investigator (FSNI) routinely provides security to visiting U.S. delegations and may be required to assist movements, liaise with Swiss counterparts, and provide translation services during high-level visits. They screen and translate daily local press for security-related matters to identify and track issues that could potentially impact Embassy personnel or operations.

The position is located in the Embassy's Regional Security Office Section (RSO) and reports to the Senior Security Investigator (FSNI).
