Discovery – Head of Discovery
As the head of the Discovery group of the Fragrance Division, you will have a unique opportunity to design and optimize cost-efficient, sustainable signature ingredients for perfumery according to Givaudan’s S&T strategy.
The major focus of the role is leading chemists and executing research programs to identify novel molecules of fragrance ingredients that are safe and sustainable on top of their perfumery performance.

In this exciting role you will be accountable for:
Management of a global team of knowledgeable, passionate scientists to deliver according to Givaudan’s S&T strategy. Change management. Allocation of appropriate resources (scientists, expenses, Capex, equipment).
Initiate, plan, and execute complex research programs of a global projects portfolio with defined goals according to budget, EHS, business, and IP strategy.
Long-term perspective in the field of expertise with knowledge of recent research/technological advancements including the use of the latest advancements of AI, lab automation, and parallel synthesis.
Interaction and collaboration with external experts/academia.
You will be based in Kemptthal (Switzerland) and will report to the Head of Ingredients Research.
Your focus is required on:
work sustainability and applying green chemistry principles
provide expert chemistry advice and communicate acquired knowledge to technical staff and business leadership.
You have:
A PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, with a strong background in green chemistry methodologies and parallel synthesis
+ 10 years of experience on the job with an industrial background in signature ingredients for perfumery
A creative mindset for the development of differentiating technologies and ways of working. Ability of solving technical and complex problems.
Experience in initiating, coordinating, designing, and implementing complex technical programs in a project portfolio.
Extensive business knowledge and experience.
An excellent understanding of the Intellectual Property needs of a research team
Experience in leading a complex and diverse team.
Fluent in English, and German as advantage
