Research Associate in Adversarial Learning Join to apply for the Research Associate in Adversarial Learning role at UNSW The School of Computer Science and Engineering is offering an opportunity for a Research Associate to conduct research on adversarial models and attacks for robust multimodal foundational models. In this role you will conduct independent and collaborative research, write scientific papers, participate in conferences, supervise HDR students, and collaborate with industry partners. This position reports to Professor Flora Salim and has no direct reports. Salary: AUD$113,911 – $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation. Full‑time, fixed‑term contract – 3 years starting January 2026. Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia. Australian working‑rights required. Skills and Experience PhD (or soon to be awarded) in computer science, electrical engineering or related area with demonstrated experience in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Experience researching adversarial AI attacks and defence strategies. Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision. Track record of publications in top‑rated journals and conferences. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines. Ability to supervise undergraduate students. Commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values. Capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies.
