As an Elastomer Expert you are a central knowledge carrier in the relevant (manufacturing-) technologies for elastomers and sealing systems as well as elastomer-related topics in the discussion with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Your responsibilities:
- Lead elastomer related innovation projects in collaboration with internal and external customers as well as suppliers
- Identify customer requirements and translate them into specifications for VAT vacuum valves and elastomer/compound makers
- Extend network and partnerships with suppliers, customers, and R&D institutions
- Acquire and document Know-How about the processing of elastomers
- Link, consult and support the colleagues from the different Business Units, product management and development, simulation, production and test laboratory in elastomer processing topics within VAT
- Guide the qualification process for new elastomers and manage VAT’s elastomer portfolio
Your qualifications:
- MSc or PhD Degree as Chem. Engineer, Chemistry, Mech. Engineer or equivalent, preferably with process knowledge on elastomers, rubber or plastics processing (FKM, FFKM, etc.)
- 5+ years of relevant experience favored within the elastomer industry
- Knowledge on analytics and characterization of rubber compounds advantageous
- Knowledge of semiconductor processes are beneficial (plasma etch, CVD, PVD and vacuum processes)
- Good network into elastomer industry and relevant research partners favorable
- English and German speaker, any other language will be considered advantageous
- Availability to travel globally to suppliers and customers facilities (10-20%)
