Key Responsibilities:
- Process Design & Optimization: Design, implement, and/or optimize manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of plant equipment are carried out professionally and economically in respect of applicable health and safety procedures to ensure operational reliability and plant availability.
- Project Coordination: Lead and participate in engineering projects, from feasibility study or conceptual design through execution, ensuring timely completion within budget in the area of responsibility.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, and vendors to ensure alignment on process improvements and compliance.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of engineering processes such as Process & Instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) according to change management and in compliance with GMP.
- Training: Provide training and support to plant personnel on processes and equipment, fostering plant knowledge and a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
- Compliance: Ensure all engineering practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
Profile Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in plant engineering within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in process simulation software and engineering tools; strong understanding of FDA regulations, cGMP, and quality assurance practices.
- Analytical Abilities: Structured, focused, and well-organized behavior with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex processes to identify and implement improvements.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively and autonomously in a team environment, fostering cooperation and collaboration across departments.
- Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and tackle challenges in a fast-paced environment.
