Location: Lausanne

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Laboratory Technician with over 10 years of experience in a microbiological lab, ready to take on new challenges in a brand-new lab setting. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated to help establish new processes, manage storage, and interact with external vendors.

This hands-on role requires the ability to quickly analyze practical situations and efficiently organize lab workflows. The candidate should be an expert at recognizing bacteria rapidly and have extensive experience with all common laboratory equipment, as well as multiple specific laboratory machines.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the microbial biobank, including reception, registration, cryostock preparation and preservation, and sample preparation for intra- and inter-site dispatch.
  • Lead result reporting, propose technical solutions, and participate in data analysis.
  • Manage consumable stock, maintain optimal lab workflow and organization, and ensure equipment maintenance and pipette calibration.
  • Mentor and train junior team members to enhance lab quality and performance.
  • Work within SOPs and technical documentation applicable in BSL2 labs and the company.
  • Implement and monitor quality control processes, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Manage small projects from planning through execution and reporting.

Profile:

  • Technician Diploma or Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of R&D experience in microbiology and molecular biology, strain development a plus.
  • Extensive experience with microbiology and molecular biology techniques in a BSL2 lab environment.
  • Strong documentation skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated scientific rigor and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a global context.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest scientific advancements.
  • Proficiency in French (C1 level) and fluency in English.
