Senior Engineering Manager (Bangkok based, relocation provided) Agoda is an online travel booking platform that connects travelers with a global network of 4.7M hotels, holiday properties, flights, activities, and more. As part of Agoda’s Engineering department, you will help build scalable, fault‑tolerant systems that power our website, mobile apps, affiliate APIs, inventory and pricing, product information, customer data, communication, partner data, booking systems, payments, finance and more. Responsibilities Manage large engineering teams (25+ people) and directly oversee engineering managers and star engineers. Provide technical input into new business ideas and architect solutions that scale globally. Drive initiatives beyond your core team and collaborate with senior leadership up to C‑level. Build and guide the technical roadmap for your area and take ownership of major strategic projects. Develop people by inspiring teammates and hiring A‑players, while mentoring future engineering managers. Operate autonomously, set KPIs, and demonstrate strong ownership of systems and team outcomes. Qualifications Experience managing large engineering teams (>25 people) and hiring, managing, and developing engineering managers. At least 5 years of experience managing engineering teams, 10+ years in software engineering, with a strong system owner background and operational responsibility. Extremely proficient in at least one programming language (React, JavaScript, Kotlin, Scala, Java, C#) and knowledgeable in microservices, clean architecture, and scale. Excellent people management, communication skills, and a passion for building elegant, high‑scale solutions. Minimum B.S. in Computer Science or a quantitative field. Experience communicating to C‑level stakeholders and driving strategic initiatives. Ability to operate autonomously, make decisions, and set KPIs with a strong sense of ownership. Experience rapidly growing a team and developing future engineering managers from within the company. Proficiency with backend programming languages and data engineering is a plus. Experience in a data‑driven, large‑scale internet company with global projects is a plus. Experience in Fintech / Financial Systems is a plus.
