ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT

The General Secretariat directs administrative, human and financial resources and activities of the Union, including the implementation of the provisions of the administrative regulations on operational questions, the dissemination of information on telecommunication/ICT matters for operational and other purposes, and the provision of legal advice to the whole of the Union.

Within the General Secretariat, the Strategic Planning and Membership Department (SPM) advises the Secretary-General on strategic challenges and their implications for the Union in the fast evolving telecommunications/ICT environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In the Strategic Planning and Membership Department, Marketing and Partner Relations Division, under the supervision of the Senior Membership Officer, the duties to be performed are as follows:

  • Identify, contact prospective members and recruit new members from the industry and follow up on leads to increase membership and revenues; liaise with administrations to obtain formal approval for new membership applications.
  • Prepare presentations for prospective members; ensure the coordination and follow-up to meetings with members and prospects.
  • Prepare briefings for management meetings with the industry and follow up.
  • Prepare visits of members and prospects, including external and internal coordination of participation and content.
  • Maintain strong engagement with the industry members and contribute to cross-ITU coordinated relationship management to strengthen existing relationships.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of membership strategies taking into account membership policies and procedures established for the overall ITU.
  • Contribute to the development of initiatives and campaigns to attract new members.
  • Work closely with colleagues to develop effective promotional tools for membership development.
  • Follow up on members to be suspended from participation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education:
Advanced university degree in business administration, international relations, political science or related field OR education from a reputed college of advanced education with a diploma of equivalent standard to that of a university degree.

Experience:
At least five years of progressively responsible experience in international relations, business development or account management, ideally in the ICT / telecommunications field, including at two at the international level.

Languages:
Knowledge of one of the six official languages of the Union (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) at advanced level and knowledge of a second official language at intermediate level.
