The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the guardian of the Olympic Games and the leader of the Olympic Movement. A truly global organisation, it acts as a catalyst for collaboration between all Olympic stakeholders, including athletes, National Olympic Committees (NOCs), International Sports Federations (IFs), Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), Worldwide Olympic Partners, and Media Rights-Holders. It also works with public and private authorities, including the United Nations and other international organisations.

As a US Tax Manager, you will assist in the management of US operations within the IOC Group (in particular, the activities of Olympic Broadcasting Services), including relationships with colleagues throughout the business, external advisers, the Olympic stakeholders (Organizing Committee of the 2028 Olympic Games and the 2034 Olympic Winter Games – US OCOGs and others), and the US tax authorities at each government level, becoming a recognized expert source of knowledge on a range of direct and indirect tax issues including customs at US and international level.

Direct Taxes:

  • Analysis of the US customs and tax legislation and development of a strategic plan to formalize the customs and tax framework for the delivery of the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 and Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City 2034, in compliance with the customs and tax-related provisions of the Olympic Host Contract (OHC).

  • Support the US OCOGs (Organising Committee of the Olympic Games) in their work with the US tax authorities for the implementation of the customs and tax-related provisions of the of the Olympic Host Contract (OHC) Principles.

  • Submission of tax exemption requests or tax rulings to the US tax authorities for the IOC Group.

  • Preparation of guidelines, in order to help the IOC Group and the other Olympic stakeholders understand their entitlements and comply with their obligations under the US tax legislation.

  • Filing of tax returns and other special forms related to US individual income, corporate income tax, withholding tax, etc. within legal deadline.

  • Review of US legislative or tax changes that could influence the organization and the staging of the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 and Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City 2034.

  • Maintain close relations with tax consulting networks.

Indirect taxes:

  • Understand the Swiss & Spanish VAT status of the IOC Group and its implications in terms of commercial relationship with the US.

  • Plan, structure and advise units on the customs and indirect tax implications of the transactions (including new business models and issues) performed in the US by the IOC Group, manage tax risk appropriately for all commercial and corporate operations.

  • Review of account payables and receivables invoices and ensure compliance from a US indirect tax standpoint.

  • Provide technical support, advice and training to the accounting team when dealing with US commercial partners.

  • Maintain company administration files in case of audit from the US tax authorities.

  • Prepare timely and accurate completion and filing of applications for US sales tax exemption for the IOC Group (if applicable), as well as any other relevant tax forms with the US tax authorities within legal deadline.

Contract management and OCOGs tax management:

  • Review and provide technical advice during negotiations / renewals of commercial agreements with IOC Marketing Partners based in the US and around the world.

  • Work closely with US commercial partners during negotiation and implementation of agreements with the US OCOGs.

  • Facilitate negotiation of Olympic Tax Law and related rulings with the US tax authorities.

  • Set up a framework for seminars to facilitate understanding of IOC requirements abreast of developments in tax legislation.

Internal Control System:

  • Document key processes and update accordingly with the assistance of the Internal Control Manager.

  • Develop and conduct tax and operational internal control standards.

  • Coordinate work with internal and external auditors.

In order to be eligible for this role, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • University degree in accounting, taxation or related field.

  • Certified Public Accountant license (CPA) is a must.

  • Recognised experience in a tax professional role with a focus on US international taxation in an international company or in reputable consulting firm.

  • Fluent in English plus either Spanish or French.
