Job Description:Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across three continents. The TPL or Sr. Manager is responsible for the design, execution, and hand-over of CAPEX investment projects in Visp SM Areas within safety, cost, schedule, quality, and functionality. This includes managing all engineering areas and assuring the right first-time application of Lonza Technical Standards, engineering principles, concepts, and industry practices.
This role requires close collaboration with the technical team and interaction with the PL and senior management until IQ/OQ. This position has operative leadership within midsize and large CAPEX projects in the range of 50 – 200 MCHF.
Responsibilities:- Ensure compliance with all pertinent safety policies, rules, and regulations.
- Share and enforce applicable standards & practices with the project team and Work Package Owners.
- Execute the CAPEX project according to budget, scope, and on-time deliverables.
- Review and approve technical documentation (e.g., P&IDs).
- Organize internal and external workshops, supporting team members in establishing agendas, meeting minutes, and action lists.
- Ensure adequate project control systems are timely in place to manage risk, cost, and schedule.
- Conduct regular engineering and project control reviews to ensure project execution is on track and implement remedial actions as needed.
- Participate in FATs/SATs as an observing auditor.
- Contribute to the implementation of overall project resources (internal and external).
- Ensure the implementation of state-of-the-art technical solutions and compliance with quality, safety, and ecology standards.
- Share and leverage best practices within Lonza’s engineering community.
- Ensure the successful hand-over of the project to the user team, including the right level of training and correct documentation.
- Bachelor or Higher Degree in Engineering in Chemical Processes, Mechanical, Plant Engineering, or similar.
- 3+ years in project engineering or project management for chemical or pharmaceutical industries with international experience.
- Project engineering skills, including contract management in collaboration with a professional procurement organization.
- Understanding of project controlling and project appraisal knowledge.
- Wide interdisciplinary knowledge.
- Extended EHS knowledge.
- Capable of motivating teams to drive results, with good communication skills and experience in managing matrix-based cross-functional teams.
- Solid internal and external collaboration and influencing skills, able to lead diverse, cross-functional teams in project delivery.
- Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
