An independent day and boarding preparatory school for boys & girls aged 18 months – 18 years in Montreux, Switzerland, catering for approximately 450 students and teachers daily at lunch. We also cater for 100 boarders here, offering a core feeding of Breakfast, Lunch, and Supper along with some hospitality throughout the year. This is a 52-week contract operating Monday to Sunday, with a working pattern of 5 over 7 days.

We have a fantastic opportunity for you as General Assistant to join our independent school in Montreux.

You will ideally have previous experience working within a fast-paced catering environment and enjoy working with a great team for a company passionate about food and serving wonderful customers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the team with serving customers, replenishing stocks, and cleaning.
  • Prepare all service areas for the day's business relating to meal service.
  • Prepare, set-up, serve, clear, clean, and store away any food, beverage, or equipment required for special functions.
  • Prepare basic food for sale/service, following good hygiene and safety practices to the specified standard.
  • Restock and replenish stocks and consumables as required during service periods, pre-empting customer needs to achieve optimum service delivery.
  • Empty, remove, and store rubbish/recycle rubbish in the correct place.
  • Be prepared to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends for functions and school events.
  • Ensure company food standards are adhered to and wastage controlled.
  • Follow all Food Hygiene, Health & Safety policies, and allergen control procedures.

You will have the following skills:

  • Team working abilities, listening skills, and the ability to work on your own initiative. Impeccable personal presentation and hygiene.
  • Adaptability and flexibility as necessary. Reliable, honest, and able to demonstrate an open, attentive approach to customer service.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take responsibility.
  • Ability to manage some moderately heavy lifting, carrying, and pushing.
  • Reasonable/good understanding and use of verbal English.
  • Reasonable/good standard of written English and reading skills.
  • Similar experience in a customer and/or food preparation environment is preferred.
