The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join the Middle Office in the Banking Department and support the Bank’s Asset Management business.

The role is based in Basel, Switzerland; however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

Purpose of the role:

The mission of the BIS is to support central banks in their pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation, and to act as a bank for central banks.

Our Middle Office plays a crucial role in the development, provision, and operation of BIS asset management products and services. This role focuses on customer reporting, fund administration, and the further development of asset management solutions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. We aim to leverage new technologies and advanced data science to provide powerful insights to our customers.

Principal accountabilities:

  1. Produce and develop regular Asset Management reports for customers, front office, and Banking management.
  2. Contribute to the development of new Asset Management products and the modification of existing ones in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Measure and control the valuation, performance, and risk for all asset management activities.
  4. Implement compliance monitoring of investment guidelines in accordance with investment management agreements and internal policies.
  5. Operate injections and withdrawals and maintain the unit register for BIS Investment Pools.
  6. Manage the relationship with external service providers (i.e., custodians, valuation agents, and benchmark providers).
  7. Coordinate tax matters related to banking activities, including completing tax forms and responding to any tax-related queries from outside the Bank.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

  1. University degree and professional qualification (CFA or equivalent).
  2. At least five years' relevant experience in reserve/asset management, risk management, or finance.
  3. Solid technical knowledge in the valuation of financial assets including performance and risk analytics.
  4. Experience with BlackRock’s Aladdin (Accounting, Risk, and Compliance modules) would be an advantage.
  5. Practical experience in MS Office, reporting tools, and familiarity with relational databases.
  6. Excellent presentation skills as well as good oral and written English skills.
